Re: OT: Re: PESO. Electrical activity

2016-12-04 Thread Bruce Walker
Depends on your use. Photobucket appears to be just a kind of one-off
image hosting service. Useful as a place to stash a single image and
share a link to it. Personally I have limited use for that.

I prefer to be able to create galleries of related images as well as
sharing links to individual images. Flickr is still good for that,
though a few folks here have issues with it.

Tumblr seems to be quite good as a place for both small galleries and
single images. If you choose a clean profile template your Tumblr will
be nice looking too.

Both Flickr and Tumblr have been around for a long time and appear to
have years ahead of them, unlike many of the random image hosting
sites. Both are free to use too.

Some folks really like 500px. I don't, but you might, so have a look.

Not many realize it but Twitter allows posting images and sharing a
link to it. It's not the best looking place, but it's free and works.
And it renders images fast.

Most lenses go beyond infinity for two reasons: they focus shift and
need the extra room to reach infinity or they are designed to deal
with temperature fluctuations. A cold lens shrinks.

Collin, sorry it took so long to respond but I had to root around to find
this info -
The place you want to have process your E6 is AGX Processing

I used them the last several years I shot film (I went digital in 2004) at

AGX is without a doubt the best processing I've ever experienced. He's
processed several thousand rolls of film for me without any issues at all.
His prices were a little above what I was paying at other processors but I

Owing to the curvature of spacetime it should be possible with that lens to

I think it's about time you start
looking into multiple exposures and astrophoto stacking.

I tried that once and didn't have any luck with the software I used, it
wasn't significantly better than what I got with one frame. I'm curious
if anybody has stacking software they like that runs on macs (or linux)

Then there's the detail that no matter what I do, someone with good
equipment (up to and including the hubble) is going to be able to do a
lot better, and there isn't a lot of room for artistic expression. It's
not that I wouldn't enjoy going down the astrophotography rabbit hole,
but when it comes to hobbies I could throw time and money down, those
rabbit holes start looking like Watership downs.

I am amused to note that the designation for Orion is M42.

Well done you.
The Orion season starts a little later up here. It's a bit low on the
horizon yet, with light pollution and heat shimmer getting in the way.

Your results are on par with what I've got from single exposures with
the Sigma 500/4.5. Proper focusing seems to be the limiting factor
rather than actual MTF resolution. I think it's about time you start
looking into multiple exposures and astrophoto stacking.

If you have the rear screen turned off on the K-3 it doesn't flash the
mode as well. Best I can say is to memorize the number of clicks to
your next preferred mode. You can usually tell what mode it is in by
what settings are changeable in the viewfinder too. Like on the K-5
IIs AV and M are only two clicks apart. I think they are all like that
with TAv in between.
