I'd suggest trying to get several people together for a bulk order.

2017-04-30 Thread Paul Stenquist
Some excellent shots, all nicely rendered. Obviously a longer lens would have
been useful, and of course a long zoom can be a great asset in a venue like
this.

A friend who covered it for Autoweek said the PR crew ran a shuttle for the
press so photogs could change location. That's a huge plus. (I recall having to
sprint from turn 1 at Indy to turn 4 so I could meet my bosses requirement for
a variety of shots.)

GESO: MotoGP in Austin, TX

2017-04-30 Thread Mark Roberts
It's been a busy week with the end of the semester coinciding with the
release of the PDML Photo Annual, so it's taken me a long time to
throw together a gallery of photos from last week's race. It's a bit
rough and hurried but it should give you an idea of what the event was
like.

http://www.robertstech.com/temp/AustinMotoGP2017/

Equipment was the K-1 and K-5 for bodies, the K-1 being used with the
FA*300/2.8 and a Sigma EX 1.4x teleconverter. The K-5 was used with
the DA 12-24 and the DA-L 55-300.

Things I learned:

It's much easier shooting these events when you have press
credentials. Bob Capa was right: If your pictures aren't good enough
you aren't close enough.

It's much harder shooting these events when you have press
credentials. It's work. You can't stop and enjoy the race. And you
have a shedload of images to sort through, edit and upload on a short
deadline.

Always have your gear organized well before the event. I meant to take
the Pentax F 1.7x teleconverter but grabbed the Sigma by mistake. I
could have used the extra reach of the 1.7x and I think the Pentax is
a little sharper. The Pentax is definitely faster focusing (I can
actually notice a difference between the faster bikes/riders and the
slower ones because the slower ones are more likely to be in focus!)

No matter how good your gear is this kind of photography takes skill.
Practice is vital for this kind of work and I very much noticed how
out of practice I am. My race day photos would have been much better
if I'd bought a three day pass and photographed all the practice and
qualifying sessions first – just a couple of days practice would have
helped me get back a lot of my motorsports photography technique.

Still a fun weekend.

Re: Peso - Love and Peace on St. Marks Place CORRECTED link to the ebay listing

2017-04-30 Thread ann sanfedele
Thanks P J... I was afraid to look... it was a test, actually... I
havent' heard back from ebay.

Things I did in hopes of correcting the problem used "sell similar"
after changes in title and taking "love" out of the description.. Took
the original title out of the meta data so and redid the main photo...
changed the category from "direct from artist" to Contemporary...

there were not naked dudes in the first mix ...

These do not show up when I'm logged in and looking at my own
listings...the ones I saw before - there was one startlingly pornish
one beyond the
plain bare naked ladies. I wonder what photos acoompnay the listing of
a Cd from the music group of that name!

It's laughable in one sense but truly disturbing in another. and I have
to say I don't really know if when the red door was listed it had the
problem as well,

Last night two of the ebay reps were decidedly sympathetic and puzzled
and saw the naked ladies.. but I lost the connection and when I called back
I got someone who, while she was reviewing what the others had noted,
was not herself seeing naked ladies when she looked from her own ebay
account.

I lost the connection when I was supposedly being channeled to someone
who could actually help..

What happens I wonder if one searches for the item number or the title
instead of using that link?

It is annoying , of course, to have ANY ads floating around my listings
-- no matter what the subject...

Maybe one should alert the media - but as things are these days, its
such small potatoes

Part of the fascination is that it confuses my eye, almost to the

What is that long object coming out of the upper left corner? How
does it
fit in with the artwork? Are those shadows, or part of the Art?
Wha t is

An awful lot going on.

You had a very productive month, Larry. There are a lot of strong images
there.

My personal favorite is 20170406-LRC27856.jpg , with the reflection of the
flying bird. The curvature of the wings in the air and caught in the water
is one of the best compositions of this type that I have seen.

Thanks. I shared that with a friend (the singer in some of my photos
from Oregon) who is heading to SA in about a week. She's not a
photographer though, will be on a commercial tour, and just picked up a
Canon P+S, so it's probably not a lot of help for her.

Two issues. One is that in order for the battery door to open, the
vertical bit is a fair amount off the end of the camera. The other
issue is that the "sharp" edge of the mount digs into my palm.

Now that I think of it, both of those problems are solvable with a file
and a hacksaw.
