PESO: eurasian oystercatcher

2018-09-02 Thread Subash Jeyan
it seems just yesterday that they left but the migrant waders are back.
on our trip to pulicat lake near the city yesterday, though it is very
early in the migratory season, we got this, a pair of oystercatchers, a
near-threatened species. they'd just finished lunch it seems :)

Thanks!

I must live a fairly tame existence because I've always had a lot of good times

I didn't understand the hubbub so I just walked 30 yards away and sat at a

Thanks Henk, Bob and Larry for your comments!

Henk - I had to look up "unheimisch" I'd say the nice color had a lot to

Larry -  Yup - leaving the shadows with little detail enhances that I think.

Bob -very bizzare stuff with the hotlink!   Right - that protective

Ann, nice colors of the graffiti (thanks to the K5?).
But it looks indeed unheimisch there, moreover with that question there

Interesting. I couldn't recall what the image was like originally, so looked in
your collections for it - and found it.

What I would say is this. Yes the new image is quite a stunner with the colour
change - but, one thing you lose a bit is the contrast in colour on those
fantastic coronal ejections. I see they are accentuated even more with the
deeper oranges and reds, but they are nowhere near the contrast in the original
image.
Is there a half-way house to be had by giving the colour shift a bot less
strength so you keep the 'easter egg' surprise of those CMEs? I say easter egg
because it's such a stunning image on first viewing, but quickly the eye
reaches those ejections and the detail and staggering nature of the size of
them (given that sun sun is 1 million miles across) is laid bare to see.
Beautiful image Larry, either way. Just my .02 :-)
