Re: PESO: Dogwood Bud

2021-04-16 Thread Toine
Never too old to learn something new: Apparently we have a native
species of Cornus and even local names like kenel, knel, kornel,
kernoelje, konkernel. The name probably comes from the Greek kranaos
(hard / solid).
Now I need to go and find a Kornoelje in the wild. And now I need to
know why it's called Dogwood in English.

FWIW, I don't want my videos to be about the tech talk. When I look at a
lens or camera I care more about how it makes me feel than anything else.

These cameras have become basically unnecessary given that we have things
like the GR with an APS-C sensor (and the 16MP GR2 is one of my favorite
cameras of all time). But I really think there's something about the images
coming out of 1/1.7" or so sensors at around 12MP that compares well with

I totally agree. The MX-1,Q7 and Q-S1 are my favorites. Nowadays my
daily photobag includes two small sensor cams. Q-S1/wide 08 and a
coolpix P950 which gives me a range from ultra wide to ultra tele.
The examples in your video are very convincing and noise from raw
isn't any problem. And not just any examples. Chapeau!

Yet another proof - as if any was needed - that the camera is far less
important than what's behind it.

Small sensors are better than you think

These cameras have become basically unnecessary given that we have things
like the GR with an APS-C sensor (and the 16MP GR2 is one of my favorite
cameras of all time). But I really think there's something about the images
coming out of 1/1.7" or so sensors at around 12MP that compares well with
grainy 35mm black and white film.
