Re: PESO: Rabbit

2021-06-03 Thread mike wilson
Hares tend to be solitary, rabbits communal. Hares are bigger, have longer and
bigger back legs and ears. The ears usually have a black mark near the end.
Hares tend towards brown, rabbits to grey in colour. Rabbits live in burrows,
hares live above ground. Hares have longer faces than rabbits. Both are
lagomorphs, not rodents, due to different dentition.

Re: PESO: Rabbit

Yes, I know what you mean. When we still lived in Rhodesia there was a
chap over the road who had a Bull Terrier breeding "farm" just like
that. His lines, Sandawana Bull Terriers, were in high demand even in
South Africa. He had about 3 breeding males & 20 females. He must have
made a fortune. One night, one of his males got out & ended up tangling
will several dogs on the street, including our Male Dalmatian. The
owner, an excitable Irishman, felt nothing & became very aggressive when
asked about compensation for Vet bills.

Re: PESO: Rabbit

2021-06-03 Thread Henk Terhell

Hares have longer ears.

From wikipedia:
Hares and jackrabbits are leporids
 belonging to the genus
Lepus. Hares are classified in the
same family  as rabbits
. They are similar in size to
rabbits and have similar herbivorous diets, but generally have longer
ears and live solitarily
or in pairs. They do not
dig burrows, but nest in slight depressions called forms, often in long
grass. Also unlike rabbits, their young are able to fend for themselves
shortly after birth  rather
than emerging blind and helpless
. Most are fast runners.
Hare species are native to Africa, Eurasia, and North America.
