PESO - Metaphor

Taking the K-5 for a walk yesterday, I came upon this impaled and deflated 
“Celebration” balloon. It seemed to reflect my feelings as 2021 comes to a 
close.

Until the *istD came along I used a 3MP Canon PowerShot G1.
A great little camera - I gave it away to someone who used
it for quite a few more years!
(The camera claimed "3.3Megapixels", but that was the size
of the CCD - the largest images it produced were 2048x1536).

Fun capture.  Reminiscent of some of my oldest photos which figure kids about 
that age on stingrays with one or more wheels in the air.

But, he isn’t catching air, only one tire is off the ground.  It’s a good 
wheelie though.

PESO - Speaking of Optios...

I tried out a W60 back in 2008 but decided against it... can't remember 
why - probably I couldn't justify the money at the time.  I found it 
while looking for
a photo I took with Bill Robb's Optio at Grandfather Mt... photo of a 
snail on the picnic table and now I can't find it... :-(  wanted to see 
if it were the same
camera as the one Godders used to take those lovely photos he just 
showed us.

glad you enjoyed it, Henk - though I had intended only to feature that 
one photo... I don't mind viewers checking out the whole gallery of chromes
I've digitized  that go back to the early 70's ... I'm always doing that 
when I look everyone elses folders :-)  but they are often not captioned and
probably have lots of typos in the info area..  but my filenames usually 
give some info.

PESO: Darter

Darters are closely related to Cormorants but have longer necks & 
sharply pointed beaks like Herons. They spear rather than catch fish. 
Also, they are less oily than Cormorants so swim with their bodies 
completely submerged with only their neck & head sticking out like a 
swimming snake. The African Snake Darter is aptly named. This remarkable 
shot was taken by Ian van Romberg (PENTAX PHOTOGRAPHERS SA) On the Berg 
River, Velddrif, Western Cape. Ian kindly gave permission for me to show 
his image here:

I went for my first bike ride in several weeks today.  I took care to put the 
18-270 on the k-3 before putting it in the handlebar bag. I saw these mushrooms 
on a stump about halfway around the block, stopped, grabbed my camera and 
realized that I hadn’t checked the battery.

So, it’s not just the camera that you have with you, it’s the one that will 
actually work.

I grabbed an underside shot of one of the shrooms with my phone because some 
folks like to ID them, and it turned out surprisingly nice:
