Steve,

The link you posted shows K-3 BG-5 grip for $997 (996.95),
and AF-540 costs additional $80.95 if purchased together.

The bundle of all three that you mentioned is available for $997
at Adorama:
http://www.adorama.com/IPXK3KE.html

There are a few other bundle variations that are available from
Adorama and some - from BH:
http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/94-pentax-price-watch/274593-pentax-k-3-100-price-drop-k-50-50-price-drop-october-2014-a.html

Often BH matches Adorama (and vice versa), so similar bundles can
appear on BH (if they haven't yet).

Cheers,

Igor

Filter: low-end B+H or Hoya HMC?

2006-11-18 Thread Jaume Lahuerta
Hi,

I want to buy a UV filter for my DA zooms. There are 2 options that cost more
or less the same (around 20 EUR). A 'normal B+H (without extra coating) and a
Hoya multicoated (called HMC or something similar).
The 'normal' Hoya costs 10 EUR and it still says that is coated. I have used it
in another zoom and I have no complaint, but I didn't know about the more
expensive version.

So, what are your experiences? Is it worth the 10 extra EUR? What abot the B+H
against the Hoya HMC?

Thanks,
Jaume

I think the nearest B+H get to filters is the ones on the end of the
cigarettes they make. Perhaps you mean B+W :o)

In your position I would buy the Hoya for the multicoating. The HMC
filters are perfectly ok. If you were comparing a multicoated B+W with
the HMC I would go with the B+W. They seem better made.

They have been dependable and prompt in their shipments to me. Awhile
back, they went through a number of Jewish holidays, but their home
page noted it and offered their apologizes for any inconvenience.
Their notice of shipment probably indicated the carrier to be UPS(?),
and should have included a tracking number.
I have the tracking number memorized when I'm expecting something good.
Christmas glut may be having its effect on the carrier.

Jack,
The first night of Hannaukah is 12/25.

Pal,
Call them or email and ask why.
They are very good and professional,
and they have experienced a Christmas rush many times.
If they have it, they should be shipping it.

They listed the black 43mm limited lens about 10 days ago, for an hour,
then it was sold out. I called and complained as I was on the email
list for it.
They offered to special order for me, but had to bill me immediately.
I asked how long to get the special order. They said a week.
The lens is in Chicago, scheduled to arrive tomorrow on a 3 day UPS delivery.

They offered to special order for me, but had to bill me immediately.
I asked how long to get the special order. They said a week.
The lens is in Chicago, scheduled to arrive tomorrow on a 3 day UPS
 delivery.

Jack,
The first night of Hannaukah is 12/25.

Pal,
Call them or email and ask why.
They are very good and professional,
and they have experienced a Christmas rush many times.
If they have it, they should be shipping it.

They listed the black 43mm limited lens about 10 days ago, for an
hour,
then it was sold out. I called and complained as I was on the email
list for it.
They offered to special order for me, but had to bill me immediately.

B+H weird shipping charges

2002-05-14 Thread David . Mann

Hi all,

Just out of curiosity I had a look at the FA*400/5.6 on B+H. I clicked on
the shipping info and got two quotes; one for the UK and one for NZ. To
have it shipped across the pond to the UK is $72.50, or to send it all the
way to NZ costs $70.75. Both via Fedex Priority.

That's just a little bit confusing. VAT/GST and duties are not included as
they work out to more than the shipping cost.

Something else that suprised me is that the A-400/5.6 is still available,
and is about $200 more expensive than the FA.

I hope I can find the FA lens at a good price in London, then I can just
throw it in my luggage. My dream is to find both this lens and the
FA*200/2.8 together secondhand at a price I can afford :)

Cheers,

- Dave in sunny Bognor

Be careful - you are going to end up with more weight on the return leg than
you shipped in with...hehehe

I don't think I made I myself very clear with this. Have any PDMLer's got any
experience re these questions? Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm planning to visit B H when I visit New York soon - should be quite an
experience if the website is any indication !!

A couple of questions:

Do they negotiate on prices for used equipment or are their prices set in
stone ? Are their descriptions accurate? Are the prices generally fair, or do
they tend to be over the top?

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,
I was trying to remember my experiences buying used at BH. I seem to
recall the salesman telling me that they are not allowed to negotiate.
However, their prices are generally reasonable, and they have a lot of
nice stuff. Olden Camera, which was on Sixth between 33rd and 34th last
time I looked, also has a lot of nice used stuff, and they do negotiate.
Both stores are a lot of fun.

Everything is negotiable, though I don't think B+H is like a pawn
shop.

Can't hurt to ask.

 Are their descriptions accurate?

In my 2 transactions with them, yes.

fair, or do

Well...they seem to be pretty fair for a big retail store selling
used gear. You can always find cheaper stuff, but with B+H you have a
little confidence in who you're buying from. At least I do.
