Subject: 3mp Print Quality

Although I continue to use my ZX-5n, my brother gave me a Canon Power Shot A-70 digital camera. I use it mostly for candid snaps and portraits. It has 3.2mp. I have had 8x10 and 11x14 prints made from this camera and the results have been good to very good. I have the camera set to very fine compression and the largest resolution (that gives me 2048x1536 pixels.) and shoot at 50 or 100 ISO. My brother, who shoots high end Canon DSLR's, tells me I can enlarge 1 step above the 11x14s and still get good prints with the A-70. I'm surprised that people with 3 mp digital cameras are not able to get quality prints above 4x6. By the way I don't have the capability to do my own tweaking (Photo-Shop) and printing. I just take my CF cards to a local mini lab for the enlargements and the results have been fine.
By the way I have found that the mini lab 4x6s from my ZX-5n come back with much better color and contrast than the A-70 digital mini lab prints even with the A-70 set for vivid color.
