I think that I've taken about 20 frames with it so far, I haven't really
noticed the AF, except for it being very handy in live view to just touch the
screen to tell it where to focus.

If I make the effort to pay attention, I can notice the difference in the
viewfinders between the K-3 and the K-3 III, and when I compare side by side it
does seem to be pretty close to the K-1. Mind you, I have shot with the K-1
thinking it was a K-3 and visa versa.

Good news, the NC miata shares a chassis with the Rx8, so the Rx8 is pretty
much a rotary Miata coupe.

I had an '83 GSL. Meh, the miata is a much, much better car. When I had a
broken collarbone my Rx78 stopped running. Eventually I learned that if I
squirt ATF down the carb the tip seals would seal and it would start.

I helped a friend do some work on his mid 90's (3rd gen Rx7), absolute horror
to work on.

Nice shots. I'm curious to know if the AF has been greatly improved over
the K3II, and how you like the new viewfinder. I'm expecting that the
new AF will port over to a new K1, and I expect they will upsize the new
prism for it as well.

I’m very pleased with it. Olga has a 2013 (2nd gen), and my only real complaint
was the automatic transmission. I test drove a 2023 (4th Gen), and you can
only get the manual transmission with premium trim, which seems to focus on
features that insulate the driver from actually controlling the car, which is
antithetical to why I want a manual transmission. I hate that rather than a
parking brake lever it has a parking brake switch. Damn it, if I ever need a
fool proof way of applying the brakes, I don’t want anything more complicated
than a direct cable between me and the brakes. Or, for that matter if I need
to rotate the car 180 degrees in its own length while traveling down a dirt or
gravel road …

This is a 2015 hatchback with the 2.5l motor and 6 speed, and it had just under
64K miles. This morning’s fillup netted me just over 31MPG in a combination of
mountain and highway driving, vs 27ish in the 2007 Civic and 25 in the Miata.
The motorhead in me is curious about how the car would do at 13:1 compression
if tuned to run on 100 octane fuel. However, I am committed to not spending
any money on gofast parts that aren’t replacing something that was already worn
out.

I am curious though, how the laptimes in it will compare to my miatas.

At least until I need to do some wide Field of View photos, particularly wide
field of view, wide aperture.

One of the good things about the K-3III is that they have made some substantive
changes to the UI, the focus select joystick, and the touch screen completely
change how things can work. There seem to be a bunch of other features which I
think are new, because I did RTFM for all of my previous cameras and don’t
remember them. Long story short, this will probably have the most substantial
learning curve for me since my K100, as every other UI has been an evolutionary
change over the previous rather than a paradigm shift.

One thing that I really like about it is that the alternative programming for
the “function buttons” is actually useful.

For others with them, I am curious about what features of the K-3 III you found
the most useful, and/or the most annoying.
