Is the Tokina 100/2.8 macro the same as the Pentax?

I'm pretty sure Tokina and Pentax worked together on the design. If it
were a pure Tokina design there ought to be a k-mount version available
from Tokina, although that may not mean as much as it once did.

It seems like Tokina decided to make newer lenses available only in
CanonEOS or Nikon mount, so just because it's not available in Pentax-K
doesn't seem to indicate Pentax's participation in the design.

I'm sure there's some relationship between Tokina and Hoya that divides
the field up so they're not competing for Pentax shooters. Pentax
manufactures the K-mount version, Tokina manufactures the Canikon mount
versions.

For some lenses there is no Pentax version ... no one seems to
manufacture it.

As much fun as he is to make fun of, he is occasionally on target. After my

everything that he liked about his D40 applied to the K100.

Mind you, if I could have used my old AIS lenses on a D40 the way I can use K

He does, however, make a few Rockwellisms in this piece. He categorically
states that 200mm is better than 100mm because you get more working distance,
when I find that I'm often using my 50mm or 20mm rather than the 90mm either

Kennyboy is the John Stewart of photography. He has said he does it for

other hand, hang out here I freely give advice and don;t expect to be
paid for it, good or bad. I think he's repulsive and his work runs to
garish colors and bad composition, which you know probably would appeal
to the least common denominator. He's at best a hack and at worst a
charlatan. .I don't care how successful his web site is.

I *seriously* wish Pentax had included that focus limiter switch on
their version of this lens. I get incredibly frustrated when I'm using
my copy on my K10D and it rolls through the entire effing focus range
while hunting for a lock. My K10D is probably part of the problem, but
a limiter switch would have saved a lot of frustration with this lens.
