I don't normally do this Dan but that's such a 'nearly but not quite' shot.

YMMV but:

1. I'd put that dead centre of frame if it were me.
2. I'd reshoot it with maximum DoF - possibly shooting at different
focus settings and amalgamating the images to provide as much focus
across the subject. If not possible, I would concentrate focus on the
majority of the 'cone' part at the top.
3. The stem has a burnt out highlights - edit or reshoot.

The colour saturation and the contrast is lovely for me. I think it's
such a good shot that it's worth re-doing :-)

Hope this is received in the spirit it was offered.

PESO: Coneflower

2017-07-23 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
The echinacea is commonly called the coneflower, but I don't usually use
that name. When he petals are at their best, the central seed pod is
pretty flat. It's only after the pedals begin to fade that it begins to
look like a "cone"flower:

I'm not sure I understand your suggestion, Toine - stacking fewer images
would put more of the image out of focus, at even at f5.6 (aperture used
for both images) the in focus bad is very narrow and drop off almost
immediately.
