Re: PESO -- The Red Boat.

2016-11-24 Thread P.J. Alling

I've thought about the suggestions that I received and well, maybe.

The wooden construction is the remains of an erosion control jetty, they
were made out of various materials, the earliest seem to have been of
wood or stone, though there were later ones of wood as well. The middle
period, say from the 1930's to the 1960's were made of steal or iron,
those have fared the worst and most have almost completely rusted away.
Most places, trying to control beach erosion has fallen out of favor, so
few are now being built and few of the existing ones are being
reconstructed.

I'm dubious of vertical landscape photography but that works for me.

I think there are two pictures here. If the picture is cropped just below
the small white buoy, this gives a diagonal to the red boat and makes it the
subject of the picture. What is left below with the interesting beach
foreground and the old landing stage leading into the water, makes an
interesting abstract.

Re: PESO -- The Red Boat.

2016-11-23 Thread John

I would like to see what the image looked like if you got right down to
the level of the top of those old pilings. They provide a leading line,
but it doesn't quite lead me out to the sailboat.

Maybe a viewpoint a little more to the left would do so.

Re: PESO -- The Red Boat.

2016-11-23 Thread Ken Waller
Hi PJ, I like the subjects you're working with here but think it would be a
much stronger image without much of the 'dead space'. May I suggest cropping
out the foreground up to the rocks in the LLH corner, eliminate about three
quarters of the sky from the top down and finally crop out about half the
distance from the house to the RH edge.

Of course you may totally ignore this suggestion but you should give it a
trym just for grins.
