Scary scene - Good old Tri-x! Mark - have you ever tried TRi-x developed in Microdol X- 1:3 at 75 degrees F? - I read about that back in the late 70's and once I tried it Ikept it- it was a nice grain reducer .. anyway - niceshot ann On 7/13/2015 11:05 PM, Mark C wrote: http://www.markcassino.com/b2evolution/index.php/danger-shooting-range Not a gruesome bug - I'm tired of digital machinations... so a film shot. Re: PESO - Danger: Shooting Range
HC-110 gives similar results. I haven't developed BW film in a few years but I have a couple of quarts of HC-110, it has a shelf life of pretty much infinity, and if it was good enough for Ansel Adams, it's damn well good enough for me... Re: PESO - Danger: Shooting Range
Thanks, Ann. Microdol X 1:3 actually was my go to developer for 35mm Tri-X in the past. I thought it was beautiful with the somewhat more grainy pre-2004 formulation of Tri-X in 35mm. At the time I was only using 35mm and the Microdol-X made a subtle but noticeable reduction in the grain that I really liked. When the new 400TX formulation came out, it was slightly less grainy and I really did not see much difference between Microdol and HC110. I still have a few packets of Microdol-X (as well as D76) but these days I rely on HC110 or Rodinal due to the long shelf life of the concentrate. Last time I mixed up some Microdol I wound up dumping it after several months - I just don't shoot film consistently anymore!
