I can't explain why, but I like it a lot.

As others have said, it's technically brilliant, but there's something
more to it than that.

There's something almost transcendental to it (does that make sense?).
It's like an Ansel Adams print - there's a beauty to it that simply
goes beyond the actual content of the photo (again, I know I'm not
expressing myself well - I guess I don't do artspeak).

Great shot, Godfrey.

cheers,
frank

Are you doing these in IR or adding the effect.

Either way this and the plane one are very good. I like the bright
foliage behing the tree to add depth, perspective, or what have you

I like it. I would have moved the tree just a bit to the left,
though. I find it a bit too centered.

Godfrey, may I suggest that you add a bit of vignetting to this image.
It seems to really ask for some probably even heavy vignetting.

 Yep, it's a tree.

:-) Seriously, I really, really, like the OOF areas surrounding the
sharp trunk. Looks kinda holga-ish maybe... only sharper...
 Whatever,
 I like the effect.

Well executed technically, but by itself it doesn't do any thing for me.

The light makes this interesting. The vignetting helps as well.
