I like the haze/fog/whatever in the sky around the tower and moon. Whatever it is which is affecting the light there. This has the feel of something in Morocco or something like that, not the heart of Silicon Valley. I think I like the square one better because one can see more detail in the buildings. But now that I've said it, I'm flipping back and forth between the two tabs in Firefox and I can't make up my mind solidly either. Not sure. I like the square version, but the first version seems to have a more sureal feel to it. The square crop feels cramped to me. The foreground in the full frame version makes the image balance quite nicely for me. I don't know your feelings on this sort of thing, but if that was my photo, I'd edit out that little person on the right side.
