Re: PESO Red Breasted Flier
If you shoot "straight" up at any color bird in a bright sky, plan on a silhouette. It's about good light and keeping track of the angles. Yes, it will take staying aware and practice. Re: PESO Red Breasted Flier
I always use TAV and select the app and shutter speed I want. Shooting skyward without exposure comp, anything other than a white bird ends up underexposed. If one dials in ISO 1250 and bumps the exposure two stops in rendering, the net result is ISO 5000. So I figure Im better off going for a conservative shutter speed when possible. Re: PESO Red Breasted Flier
I just saw a Pileated Woodpecker in my back yard. First sighting here in years. Of course, just as I was tying to slip quietly away to grab my camera, it flew off into the woods. I have been hearing a "different" woodpecker in the woods over the past couple of weeks, but I never suspected it might be a Pileated! Does anyone know how I can attract hi? Peanut butter? Suet? This was 1/640th. I wasn’t planning an in flight shot. Normally I go with 1/1000th. Re: PESO Red Breasted Flier
I like the wing blur -- very effective. And the snack in its mouth make it something special. Great catch. Re: PESO Red Breasted Flier
Nice catch, Paul. What is your chosen shutter speed for wing shots?
