Paul, Bill and Wendy, Thanks for the feedback. It really is a useful lens to have then. I think it would go down well attached to my ME-Super! I will acquire one now. Malcolm

Malcolm It's an ideal lens for making a camera fit in the scanner too ;-) http://pug.komkon.org/03feb/mxc.html MX and pancake lens, my favourite combo. It's been on my last two bike trips in the pyrenees and walking in the rockies. Doesn't take up much room and gives pretty good results too. I wouldn't be without one. I have denigrated the thing in the past as a less than stellar performer, this is only relative to other Pentax lenses. It's not especially fast, it is no sharper than a 50mm f/2 (it may be less sharp, I don't really care), but it has good contrast and isn't flarey. It makes an ME-Super into a pocket camera, which is nice, and the angle of view is surprisingly pleasing. William Robb
Re: 40mm 'Pancake' lens.
It's my favorite walkaround lens. I use it most often with an MX. The camera will then fit in a pocket. That can be handy when travelling in unfamiliar territory. Here's a pic that I shot with the MX and the pancake lens in Mexico. http://home.earthlink.net/~pnstenquist/_uimages/sunandmoon.JPG Malcolm Smith wrote: > > Does anyone have any experience of this lens?
