The local Green Wood Pigeons are very sensitive to human movement & will 
explode out of a tree at even as far as 30m. Amazingly, they are not 
fazed by cows or dogs.

I’ve found that my birds are most disturbed by sudden movements and are more 
tolerant of noise. I try to be positioned with my hands on the camera when 
waiting for a bird shot. When the bird alights on a branch I slowly swing the 
ball head mounted camera into position.
