Re: PESO: Early Aberdeen
Thanks, Rick! You're doubtless right about the logging economy of old Aberdeen. This area appeared to have had an array of docks/wharfs, in all likelihood, to serve that economy. Quick shot of an accidental discovery on our way somewhere else. As another photog once commented, "it's the surprises of a photo trip that I look forward to". I agree. Am grateful for your comments. Re: PESO: Early Aberdeen
Jack, I like it just the way it is. My hunch would be that old Aberdeen's economy was based on logging, so the photo is illustrative. It also works well for me artistically. More light on the logs would cause them to compete too much with the background, IMHO. Re: PESO: Early Aberdeen
I certainly could have lobbed off the far shore line buildings, but found them sorta quaint. In this setting, I don't feel the the logs are strong enough on their own. Obvious I suppose, but My feeling is, that they need each other. Jack --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I like this as shot. Re: PESO: Early Aberdeen
I like this as shot. The foreground logs could have stood on their own, but I like the way they point to the shoreline. The dark foreground is appropriate. Re: PESO: Early Aberdeen
This one I have mixed feelings about. It almost feels like there are two subjects vying for my attention. The foreground logs and the waterfront buildings. I would almost pick one or the other and make that subject more dominant. Either cut out the sky/waterfront or most of the logs in the foreground. -- Best regards, Bruce Wednesday, July 19, 2006, 10:06:54 AM, you wrote: JD> Driving from Astoria, OR to the Olympic Peninsula, WA, we passed JD> through Aberdeen, WA.
