Most likely a small mirror at 45 deg. The lens is behind the mirror and zooming is invisible inside the camerabody. Minolta was first. It means it bends light by passing it through a curved surface clear material to bring it to a point of focus. Hum, sounds like any kind of non-reflective lens to me...
