RE: Refconverter M
I haven't been paying much attention to this thread, but did someone say the Olympus vari-finder (VA-1) fits Pentax? I have one which I've never used - no idea why I bought it. If you're interested then next time we meet up I could bring it along for you to evaluate, and maybe we could come to some sort of deal. <http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/198_VA-1.htm> Bob > > Thanks Bob, that's good. > > And thanks to Ecke, PJ, John and Darren for your pearls of wisdom too. > I'll > let you know if (probably when!) FYI: The Olympus Varimagni also fits Pentax DSLRs and gives you up to 2x at 90 degrees. Re: Refconverter M
Chris, I dug out the Refconverter M today and put it on the K-7. It worked completely. The entire viewfinder was visible, complete with the information fields at the bottom. This is a plus since the Refconverter A has the bigger field of view. The M's is big enough! and at 2X you get magnification! Regards, Bob S. I saw the two on eBay UK so I know what you may be after, Chris. Dunno if this will help you with bidding but I paid EUR ~43 and ~47 resp. for mine and the last one sold on eBay Germany went for a ridiculous 25.50. However, I've never seen an A version sell for less than EUR 110. Refconverter M
Hello all, A month or two back, I posted to the list, asking if the Refconverter M could be mounted to the *ist D. I'm happy to report back now, that I have obtained and tested this item on my own *ist D. One of the concerns was that the M series cameras had a smaller viewfinder (or at least the viewfinder and the information contained there-within). As it turns out, the M Refconverter is able to see all information in the viewfinder of the *ist D, which I believe is due to the smaller size. As a side note, this was a purchase from ebay, which I believe I got a good deal on. Upon arrival, I found that the refconverter had been dropped during it's life, and had a crack in it when viewed from the nonbusiness end of the Refconverter. However, when viewed from the business end, the crack is not visible, and it is a perfectly acceptable user model. I attribute this to the great manufacturing of Pentax. IL Bill

Re: Refconverter M
Sven, Bad news for you. The manual is correct, your converter has a problem. I just double checked. If you mount the converter and bring the ground glass into focus, it stays in focus as you switch from 1X to 2X. This is a very handy feature as you use it with macro work. You can use the 2X to check detail and then switch back to 1X for the full frame. Sorry, Bob S. Refconverter M
The postman yesterday brought a nice Refconverter M to my door. A cute little thing... The manual says that once the diopter is set to match your eyes, the setting does not need to be altered when magnification is switched between 1x and 2x. This I think is either a mistake in the manual or the one I have is not as mint as it looks... I have to turn the diopter A LOT to get a sharp picture in both settings. Does anybody use this accessory and can confirm? Thanks, Sven
