IMO it's Mark's baby and it's up to him, not us, to decide if it should
continue and to whom he should pass it on if he chooses to do so.

Re: iPhone Fun

2021-02-21 Thread John
I should probably explain this all started years ago when I took a photo with my
old Motorola flip phone and didn't have any way to connect the phone to the
computer.

On the telephone with tech support at my cell phone provider (whoever it was
before Verizon bought them out) we finally worked out that I could email the
photo to myself.

Fast forward to the 21st Century and I now have an iPhone ... but emailing the
photos to myself still works. In fact it works easier on the iPhone than it did
with the old flip phone.

It ain't broke, so why fix it?

Re: iPhone Fun

2021-02-21 Thread John
So far I've used the iPhone to save magazine articles (mostly recipes) from when
I was waiting to see the doctor at the VA and for a couple of things I felt I
needed to document when I didn't have my real camera with me.

And going from iPhone to PC, the few times I've needed to do it emailing the
photos to myself has been adequate.

If you have OneDrive on your iphone/iPad and your PC you can set OneDrive to
upload your pictures individually, ie not zipped, automatically from the Photos
folder on the iOS device. You can also get OneDrive for Android.

There are other file-sharing apps which are not Windows and do the same thing,
including Amazon Photos and Google Photos.

If you shoot with Lightroom on your phone it cloud syncs automatically so the
photos are available on all the devices where you have the cloud version of LR.

Re: iPhone Fun

2021-02-20 Thread John
The thing about cell phone photos is I don't know any way to get them onto my
computer other than sending them to myself vial email.

Which is adequate for the limited use I make of the cell phone camera.

I'm sort of the inverse ... If you can photograph it with a proper camera why
use the phone?

You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself.

iPhone Fun

2021-02-19 Thread Paul Stenquist
We got another few inches of snow so I shot the backyard in RAW mode with the
iPhone 12 Pro Max and rendered it with ARC on my computer. This was shot with
the wide angle lens, which is 13 mm equivalent. Cropped a wee bit to eliminate
the edge of the roof.

https://www.photo.net/photo/18644337/Sun-and-Snow

Last night I shot my wife, Charmaine, in Portrait mode. Since Portrait mode
includes some in-camera shenanigans to blur the background, it can’t be
combined with RAW mode, but It’s handy for quick portraits. This was shot with
the telephoto lens which is 65 mm equivalent. A bit of retouching as one must
do when shooting a portrait of one’s wife.
