The most important technological development of the late 20th century is arguably the advance in Information Technology. The world is increasingly information-rich and information dependent. The unfettered ability to tap into those flows of information already is critical to many businesses and organizations. In the near future, that information dependency will be universal. Electronic Commerce appears to be a key component of our common destiny. This is why my government is deeply concerned about the issue of data privacy.
