[Bug 1128373] Review Request: perl-Audio-Cuefile-Parser - Perl cuefile parser module

2014-08-12 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1128373

--- Comment #2 from Hans de Goede hdego...@redhat.com ---
Hi Christopher,

Many thanks for the review. I'm going in vacation in 2 days, and I still need
to wrap up various other things, so I'm not sure if I will get around to doing
a new version before then.

As for swapping, I'm all in favor of that. bug 1128335 looks like an easy
review, so I'll go and review it right away.

I've plenty more perl modules coming up. I'm trying to at least get all the
modules squeezeboxserver needs which have a binary component packaged up. As
these cannot be used as bundled by upstream on ARM. So when I'm back I'll
happily swap some more reviews for the rest.

Note these are my first perl packages, as such it may be best if I review non
perl packages for you, and I may need some guidance left and right.

perl beginner question, how did you come to the missing BuildRequires ?

Thanks,

Hans

(In reply to Hans de Goede from comment #2)
 perl beginner question, how did you come to the missing BuildRequires ?

You need to go through the perl code and see what modules get actually loaded.
Look for the `use', `require' and `no' statements, although there are other
ways, too...

`use' and `no' are evaluated, unlike `require', at compile time and modules
loaded this way will always be needed (if your module gets actually tested).

--- Comment #4 from Eric Christensen spa...@redhat.com ---
(In reply to Ralf Corsepius from comment #2)
 Oh boy, yet more bureaucracy!

I'm not sure what bureacuracy you are speaking of as this has been standard
procedure for years.

 Folks, Plack-1.0031 already is in f22 and rawhide, but I could not update
 f19 and f20 because perl-File-ShareDir-Install in f20 and f19 is too old
 (not worth mentioning epel7, which IMO is unmaintainable).

So you need the below mentioned updates for your Plack update? It looks like
they were just recently pushed to testing to testing and adding karma will be
the way to get them out the door sooner.

 So, instead of molesting maintainers with bureaucratic forms, better help
 out pushing these package builts, ASAP, such that perl-Plack-1.0031 can be
 submitted:

There is no molestation occurring here. If these packages are needed for your
update then by all means test them against your package and provide karma.
It's what we packagers do.

--- Comment #5 from Ralf Corsepius rc040...@freenet.de ---
(In reply to Eric Christensen from comment #4)
 (In reply to Ralf Corsepius from comment #2)
  Oh boy, yet more bureaucracy!

 I'm not sure what bureacuracy you are speaking of as this has been standard
 procedure for years.

Right - And I have been repeatedly complaining about this bureaucracy for
years. Unfortunately nothing has improved. Openly said, I feel Fedora's
bureaucracy is ballooning and has never been bigger.

Exactly.

Like many other perl modules, Plack has a long dependency chain, which needs to
be kept quite close to current, otherwise quick responses to bugs aren't
possible. This time, perl-File-ShareDir in fc19 and fc20 weren't new enough.

  It looks
 like they were just recently pushed to testing to testing and adding karma
 will be the way to get them out the door sooner.
*I* submitted them a couple of days ago and they are in Fedora's (7 day)
release _delay_ queue.

[BTW: In recent times, the 7 days quite often prove to be 10-14 days.
e.g.
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2014-9066/perl-Mail-GnuPG-0.20-1.fc20]

  So, instead of molesting maintainers with bureaucratic forms, better help
  out pushing these package builts, ASAP, such that perl-Plack-1.0031 can be
  submitted:

 There is no molestation occurring here.
C'mon, stop cheating.

No-molestation would equal to no additional effort and to complete ignore you.
Distribution-wise, would not change anything.

Do you want me to do this or are you insisting on me reading your mails,
closing the BZ and fill your the form?

Do you notice something? No molestation is different.

  If these packages are needed for
 your update then by all means test them against your package and provide
 karma. It's what we packagers do.
Another self-cheat. Just have a look at how many updates I have pushed (I guess
1000s). Hardly any of them has received karma. This karma-stuff is
non-functional non-sense.

 Like many other perl modules, Plack has a long dependency chain, which needs
 to be kept quite close to current, otherwise quick responses to bugs
 aren't possible.

Given that the patch that fixes the security is a one-liner, I think this is a
difficulty you're imposing on yourself more than it is a hard requirement.

Please, use the existing package review for this.

Also, requesting new branches in this manner and listing someone else as the

I apologize, sincerely.

I read that document and used the template I found there, but honestly IMHO it
was hard to understand clearly where to post it.
I wrote steve because he is listed as the package owner here
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/cpanspec/bugs/ (I got there trying to
decode the explanation in the same document).

Sorry

[Bug 1129402] New: slic3r-1.1.6-1.fc22 FTBFS: t/01_trianglemesh.t fails

2014-08-12 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1129402

Bug ID: 1129402
   Summary: slic3r-1.1.6-1.fc22 FTBFS: t/01_trianglemesh.t fails
   Product: Fedora
   Version: rawhide
 Component: slic3r

QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: mhron...@redhat.com,

slic3r-1.1.6-1.fc22 fails to build in F22 because t/01_trianglemesh.t fails:

t/01_trianglemesh.t   (Wstat: 139 Tests: 14 Failed: 0)
  Non-zero wait status: 139
  Parse errors: Bad plan. You planned 46 tests but ran 14.

Either the file declares wrong number of tests or interpreter crashes so, the
TAP output does not contain all 46 results.

The difference between last known working and this build root is:

Thanks for reporting, I know about this and I am already working on it, but I
had to postpone it because of Flock.

For the record, it is caused by slightly different behavior of new admesh-libs
(slic3r bundles older version).

[Bug 1129443] repeatly deps to perl-devel

2014-08-12 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1129443

--- Comment #1 from Ralf Corsepius rc040...@freenet.de ---
What I can gather from this mess, is that there is a dependency between
perl-IPC-Cmd and perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker which is (correctly!) pulling in
perl-devel.

From IPC/Cmd.pm:
...
require ExtUtils::MakeMaker;

my @possibles;

if( File::Spec-file_name_is_absolute($command) ) {
return MM-maybe_command($command);

} else {
for my $dir (
File::Spec-path,
File::Spec-curdir
) {
next if ! $dir || ! -d $dir;
my $abs = File::Spec-catfile( IS_WIN32 ? Win32::GetShortPathName(
$dir ) : $dir, $command);
push @possibles, $abs if $abs = MM-maybe_command($abs);
}
}
...

maybe_command originates from MakeMaker.

One resolution to this problem would be to eliminate this use case of
maybe_command in perl(IPC::Cmd).

--- Comment #2 from Petr Pisar ppi...@redhat.com ---
I'm sorry the dependencies defined by upstream code pollute your system but
that's how it is.

As Ralf pointed out correctly the issue is that perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker gets
installed into your system. perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker is a development tool,
hence it pulls in perl-devel, yet it's a Perl core module which many other
packages use because it provides nifty functions.

If we cut the dependency between perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker and perl-devel, users
would lose capability to build XS Perl modules which is one common drawback
presenting in other distributions and one people, usually web application
deployers, often complain.

Therefore the best solution is to split perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker to separate the
nifty functions, however it requires upstream blessing and that's a thing I
cannot see bright.
