perl-Text-MultiMarkdown-1.35-21.fc37 fails to build in Fedora 37 because a
build-time dependency perl(HTML::Tidy) was removed from the distribution. It
looks like an optional test and dropping the dependency should fix it.

[Bug 2063934] New: perl-Text-Markdown-1.000031-23.fc37 FTBFS: No package found for: perl(HTML::Tidy)

Bug ID: 2063934
   Summary: perl-Text-Markdown-1.31-23.fc37 FTBFS: No package
found for: perl(HTML::Tidy)

CC: lkund...@v3.sk, perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org
Blocks: 2045102 (F37FTBFS,RAWHIDEFTBFS)
  Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora

perl-Text-Markdown-1.31-23.fc37 fails to build in Fedora 37 because a
build-time dependency perl-HTML-Tidy was removed from Fedora. It tools like an
optional tests and should be possible to drop the dependency.

[Bug 2063919] New: Packages Perl tests should not generate Provides

2022-03-14 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2063919

Bug ID: 2063919
   Summary: Packages Perl tests should not generate Provides
   Product: Fedora
   Version: rawhide
Status: NEW
 Component: perl-generators
  Assignee: jples...@redhat.com
  Reporter: ppi...@redhat.com
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: jples...@redhat.com, mspa...@redhat.com,
perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org, ppi...@redhat.com
  Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora

I noticed that packaged tests in /usr/libexec/... generates Provides because
they are matched by perllib.attr:

$ cat /usr/lib/rpm/fileattrs/perllib.attr
%__perllib_provides %{_rpmconfigdir}/perl.prov
%__perllib_requires %{_rpmconfigdir}/perl.req
%__perllib_magic^Perl[[:digit:]] module source.*
%__perllib_path \\.pm$
%__perllib_flagsmagic_and_path

I think they were meant to be only covered with perltest.attr:

# cat /usr/lib/rpm/fileattrs/perltest.attr
%__perltest_requires%{_rpmconfigdir}/perl.req
%__perltest_magic   ^.*[Pp]erl[[:digit:]]* .*$
%__perltest_path/usr/libexec/.*\\.(pl|pm|t)$
%__perltest_flags   magic_and_path

But perltest.attr is more similar to perl.attr, it's about scripts:

$ cat /usr/lib/rpm/fileattrs/perl.attr
%__perl_requires%{_rpmconfigdir}/perl.req
%__perl_magic   ^.*[Pp]erl .*$
%__perl_flags   exeonly

Would it be possible to change perllib.attr to match only files under
/usr/{share,lib,lib64}/perl?

Observed with perl-generators-1.13-5.fc36.noarch.

(I find out that filtering those Provides with %__exclude_provides is a problem
when the tests involve symlinks to modules in the main package. See
perl-Module-Install-TestBase-tests-0.86-24.fc36 which erroneously provides
perl(Module::Install::TestBase)
. I will try to
work it around on packaged file level in perl-Module-Install-TestBase.)

[Bug 2063824] New: perl-HTTP-Daemon-6.14-1.fc37 has a build cycle with perl-libwww-perl-6.61-1.fc37

2022-03-14 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2063824

Bug ID: 2063824

An update of perl-HTTP-Daemon-6.14-1.fc37 breaks bootstrapping Perl packages
because it added a dependency on perl-libwww-perl with created this build cycle
in a dependnecy graph:

2022-03-13T20:56:04 Solver result for possibility of rebuilding SRPM for
`perl-HTTP-Daemon': Source package `perl-HTTP-Daemon' cannot be installed
because it build-requires `perl(LWP::RobotUA) * ' that cannot be satisfied.

2022-03-13T20:53:30 Solver result for possibility of rebuilding SRPM for
`perl-libwww-perl': Source package `perl-libwww-perl' cannot be installed
because it build-requires `perl(HTTP::Daemon) >= 6.01' that cannot be
satisfied.
2022-03-13T20:53:30 According dependency solver, this package is not
rebuildable now.

The new tests dependencies on perl(LWP::RobotUA) and perl(LWP::UserAgent) are
guarded with "use Test::Needs ...", hence those are optional tests. They are
optional in order to prevent from build cycle.

Please move them to an optional tests dependencies block in the spec file and
guard the block with spec condition which will depend on %perl_bootstrap and
preferably also on a %bcond_without option.
