I agree with Lou Sorkin.cockroach egg case. However, Larder Beetle larva
are known to burrow into soft wood and drywall to pupate.

Can anyone tell me if the attached image is castings of larder beetles?
They measure about 12 mm in length and were found in the crevice between a
painting on wood and its wood frame, with boring damage to the painting.
