[DOCS] Contributing
Hi Gents, I'd like to know whether there's some need for a translator English <-> German ... I'd love to contribute to the project, and keep my German alive at the same time :) over 4 Years in NZ with hardly any occasion to speak it. Re: [DOCS] "May", "can", "might"
On 1/31/07, Bruce Momjian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Standard English uses "may", "can", and "might" in different ways: may - permission, "You may borrow my rake." can - ability, "I can lift that log." might - possibility, "It might rain today." Unfortunately, in conversational English, their use is often mixed, as in, "You may use this variable to do X", when in fact, "can" is a better choice. Similarly, "It may crash" is better stated, "It might crash". I would like to clean up our documentation to consistently use these words. Objections? My full support. :} I like clarity, specially on such important things as communication! (Who says were obsessive?) :-) ---(end of broadcast)--- TIP 2: Don't 'kill -9' the postmaster
Re: [DOCS] [pgsql-www] Users comments don't migrate to docs for new version?
On 6/8/07, Alvaro Herrera <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: You could certainly rework comments into changes to the main text and send them to the pgsql-docs list. If there are problems with the grammar, somebody will correct it. Or maybe they won't, but it doesn't matter, because the good thing is that the new text will be there. A piece of text with a minor grammatical error is better than no text at all. Amen to that :} (at least if it's not completely misleading). ---(end of broadcast)--- TIP 5: don't forget to increase your free space map settings
Re: [DOCS] Volunteer to build a configuration tool
On 6/19/07, Campbell, Lance <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Mario, Lance, The JavaScript configuration tool I proposed would not be in the install of PostgreSQL. It would be an HTML page. It would be part of the HTML documentation or it could be a separate HTML page that would be linked from the HTML documentation. So you're not after a tool that configures postgres at all, just one that can give you sensible guesstimates for some parameters based on your intended use?
