Tom has offered to apply patches that would drift too much from a
one-month delay.  If patches do drift, I will take responsibility for
making sure they merge cleanly.  It's the least I can do.

Would it be a good idea for someone else to step up to handle patches
while you're away? Leaving everything for a month will probably cause
some breakage (e.g. what happened after the 7.2 tree opened).
