Re: [Pharo-dev] files.pharo.org, get.pharo.org problems?

2018-05-24 Thread Tim Mackinnon

S3 is a great suggestion - but if we are part of google summer of code and an
active open source platform - can’t they give a free reliable platform?
Possibly amazon does similar?

Given we are often the source of so many formative ideas, can’t someone will
help us sort the infrastructure?

If not, should one of us ask Martin Fowler or other Smalltalk advocates to help
take this funding problem away. We need to pay engineers for the next
generation of improvements?

So this could be a current directory problem. When one launches from the
CLI the VM is in the current directory that the shell is in. When one
drops an image onto a VM one is in whatever directory the GUI launches
desktop apps in. These differ and hence that may cause problems.

If it is a static site you can use this to manage it and host it on S3

This is S3 pricing:

Nice experiment!
The fact that it works it's a feat itself.

Maybe in the future with WebAssembly and a lighter/core image it will
became a viable alternative.

[Pharo-dev] [Iceberg] Call for contributions

2018-05-24 Thread Guillermo Polito
Hi everybody,

just for information, we have gathered some ideas on possible contributions
for iceberg besides those in the issue tracker. We've put that in Iceberg's
wiki:

https://github.com/pharo-vcs/iceberg/wiki/How-to-help-us,-What-you-could-contribute

The idea is that those contributions are mini-projects on themselves, that
could even have an usage outside Iceberg.

Cheers,
Guille
