We have read a lot about these dolls online to learn about their history.

Not sure about where to obtain a reproduction
phonograph for an Edison doll.

I did read that after the failure of the talking
doll, that many hundreds of dolls were sold off
cheaply without the phonographs in them. This is why
so many dolls show up today without phonographs
in them.

As far as doll cylinders: Go and find Jean Paul Agnard's
web site and have a look there. He made lots of doll
records at one time. He even has a fair amount of detailed
info on there about how he made them.

Hi Melissa,

Jean Paul Agnard has been selling the cylinders for the dolls.  His first
cylinders were wax and VERY fragile, but he came out with an improved,
indestructible version.  Here is his website:

http://www3.sympatico.ca/jean-paul.agnard/phonograph/reproduction.htm

You can see the cylinder there.  You might want to write him and ask if he has
any repro mechanisms or knows where to find one.  Like Tom said in his previous
post, Charley (yes Char"ley") Hummel would also be a good person to write to.

Best regards,
Dennis

Melissa,
Congratulations on your find!

I saw Charlie Hummell on a show a while back and a picker brought him an
Edison Doll for his collection. On that show I seem to remember his saying
that repro phonographs can be had for those dolls, but that they are very
expensive. I would think that the wax record for it would the rare part of
the puzzle.
