Also, I am wondering who is the best wizard are restoring the original horn. I
have an Opera that came out of a farm auction in MN and the guy was quite handy
and tried a go at fixing it. It has the original decals the rest of the horn
has at least been lightened and reglued, maybe refinished. It’s not bad,
actually the bell looks good from a distance, but it is splitting. The elbo he
spray painted brown. Interestingly didn’t touch the rest of the machine, it is
completely original and super nice.

Hi Bill
I have seen the horns from Peru, and they are superb. A friend of mine brings
some of the items here, including the Mahogany Victor spearpoint horn and the
Victor VI cabinet and matching record cabinet repros. I was astounded to find
they were repros. Out of curiosity I ordered a set of cygnet decals from the
guy (he also makes digital decals like Glenn does) and they are amazing. He is
a very friendly guy and is quick to respond to emails. He speaks very good
English. If you are considering one of those horns I would recommend them.

Hi Bill,
I would have the original horn restored. The man to do it is Don Gfell. He
restores wooden horns and makes new ones. A couple of years ago, he made a
spruce horn for my Edison Idealia.

2014-03-28 Thread harvey kravitz
To the best of my knowledge, he does exact ones. He made a spruce horn for my
Edison Idelia that is an exact copy. The unfinished horn was sent to Steve
Farmer who finished the horn and applied Greg Cline decals. It is
indistinguishable to the original except it's newer looking. The whole machine
was restored, so the horn matches everything with the Idelia.
