[Phono-L] Walnut 16
Anyone notice this auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=2224781762 Seems awfully high for this piece. Plus the machine looks like someone put some kind of horrible clear coat on it. Any thoughts?
[Phono-L] Walnut 16
I have a problem with these 'private auctions' I think EBAY is asking for people to shill. - Original Message - From: gpaul2...@aol.com To: phon...@oldcrank.com Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2004 8:30 PM Subject: Re: [Phono-L] Walnut 16 Wow - $8000 for a CW XVI? And it hasn't hit reserve with 17 bids? Looks like shill city to me. You're right - the clearcoat certainly isn't original! The are quire expensive and I have seen them go for $ 500 or so. Maybe also a Victor Exhibition with long throat would work or you can get a good copy of the Concert from Jerry Madson while you wait for the original. [Phono-L] Victor #30 smooth horn for sale
Hello All, Thought I would throw this out to the group. I have an original Victor #30 smooth horn for sale. It does have a few marks near the Victor label shown in the pictures and one small warp in the ring also shown. Otherwise it is in stunning condition. I personally think it would be hard to find one this nice. If interested please email me off list. Picture here--- http://home.comcast.net/~vtm12/victor30.html Thanks, Vince

[Phono-L] Edison A250
Greg, Why not just rebuild the motor. I am sure it can be fixed. A-250's are my favorite DD machine. Hope you get it!! - Original Message - From: Gregory Acker gack...@earthlink.net To: phon...@oldcrank.com Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2004 8:28 PM Subject: [Phono-L] Edison A250 I am looking at an Edison A250 in Oak ser 3026. The case is good but the motor doesn't work. I can't find any sales of this and I have never seen an oak one- just mahogany. What is a good price for one of these, and is the motor interchangeable for parts with the later DD's ? Eric Greg wrote: We all have at least one or two pet projects in this hobby that drive you crazy. I have a beautiful, perfectly restored Columbia BD which is missing the nickel turntable trim ring. I have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement - original or reproduction. I was given the excellent idea of finding a clock bezel that, with tabs added, would serve as a reproduction trim ring. I have someone who can add the tabs and I assume I can find someone to nickel plate the stock brass bezel and tabs. Where I need help: What are the exact measurements of a BD trim ring? I need both the outside and inside opening dimensions as well as the overall height. I am guessing that the original was about 13.25 outside diameter, 12.5 inside opening and 0.75 in approximate height, but I am not sure don't want to contact every clock parts supplier in the US until I know the exact measurements. I suppose if there was enough interest, I could have several of these made - assuming I can find an appropriate bezel. Thanks everyone for your help. [Phono-L] Triumph Pricing
Hello, I am looking to sell an Edison Triumph model D in very nice condition with an original Cygnet crane and an Oak Music Master Cygnet Horn. It has a flat carriage with a Model O reproducer. What would be a fair price to ask for this item? Thanks for the help (I am a Victor freak... so Edison's are sparse in my collection). Vince

[Phono-L] victor 8-35 x
A friend of mine who has a Victrola store in PA recently sold one for around $600. That was a crank machine in very nice shape. I would think the value would be more on that line. The original books were not there. Do not think it had a brass reproducer either. Although it was a low produced machine, I am not sure it is a really desirable one for marketing it to sell. Just my opinion. According to LFTD, this was Victors attempt to redesign its Flagship Model credenza, and it never really achieved any where near the sales of the more successful 8-30 model. I am assuming the x designation means that it is equiped with an electric turntable. According to LFTD, only 5,104 Electric Turntable versions of this model were produced. and 4,925 crank versions. I hesitate to estimate what one of these might be worth even with the defects you mention, I would assume that it would command a pretty good price, maybe $800-1200 due to the scarceness of this model. I am sure other more informed folks will chime in on this one, and I may be even very low on my estimate. [Phono-L] Person trying to cheat me with triumph offer
I get at least 2 of these offers a week from people stating they have the same phonograph that I bid on and they can sell it to me cheaper. Always overseas. I email them back telling them to ship me the item and then I would pay upon delivery. Of course I never hear back from them. Most of these EBAY scams are extremely transparent. I am not sure who would fall for them.
