The song is Down South . I have a Decca record of the song played by Milt
Herth.

The clip is posted at the following link:

Beware of the terrible sound you are about to hear! If you know the song
name
that's great but I'm very interested in knowing the artist as well so would
need
to find someone who owns the disc, or perhaps this was on an earlier
Operaphone
like American Patrol was.
Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn,
Could you post a clip of the audio on your website?

I tried this question on 78-l but got no response. This list tends to
have
people that own these off beat vertical records so hoping someone can help
me.
I just got a copy of an 8 vertical Operaphone, catalog 1714. This is
when
they had the paper labels and this one is a red label. One side is
American Patrol (that was easy to figure out as it's a popular song and it
was
also on
Operaphone 1037 which is the embossed label that
preceded this
example) but both sides have the same American Patrol label. Does
anyone have a copy of this to tell me what the other song
and artist is? Thanks.
Glenn

Someone sent me the link to this video on facebook of the Sanfilipo estate
and their collection of photographs and other mechanical musical wonders. I
thought that you might enjoy it as well.

Sorry for the misleading subject line in my first message. I hit reply to a
prior message that I had sent to the group.
