1024 is low resolution for modern screens

2017-04-03 Thread Paolo Benvenuto
I'm seeing that the bigger "thumbnail" that photofloat produces is a 1024
pixels one

However, on my 1980 x 1080 screen a landscape oriented photo with 1024
width is shown by photofloat enlarged, thus loosing sharpness: it appears
blurred.

I think 1600 pixels should be used as max sized thumbnail.

Or is there a way to avoid the problem I'm facing?

speed up thumbnail generation

2017-04-06 Thread Paolo Benvenuto
Hi!

running photofloat on a big set o images gave me this idea:

now thumbnails are generated beginning with the smallest till the biggest,
and it seems that all the thumbnail are generate from the original photo.

I suggest you to begin with the biggest thumbnail, and to generate the
smaller ones not from the original photo, but from the last generated
thumbnail.

This way the process of thumbnailing speeds up a lot!

Thank you for your attention!

Re: photofloat 2.0

2017-07-15 Thread Paolo Benvenuto
Release 2.2 is out, featuring (among other stuffs)

- many options in order to to customize behaviour and ui according to own
need
- sorting of albums and media
- fullscreen now working perfectly
- images are scaled so that the smallest image is used whitch don't need
scaling down
- translations are managed via a separate js file, so that any language can
be added (browser language automatically set if options don't specify it)
- metadata may persist on image if options request it

After putting the 2.2 release I added a few commits, please use master

Now development will continue in a separate branch so that testing may be
done

The remaining feature I want to add are the share buttons, there's an issue
for it

basically, my fork builds the date tree after building the folders one, and
permits passing from folder view to date view: when you are viewing a photo
in a folder album, you can switch to that date/month/year album and vice
versa
