[PHP] convert GIF to JPEG with PHP

if i have a GIF file, how can i convert this to a JPG file through php?

p.s.: ill do anything as long as i dont have to recompile php/apache

[PHP] run safe_mysqld from php code *urgent*

hey guys,
in order to restart my mysql server i'd like to run safe_mysqld from my
php file. i have this:

`./usr/local/mysql/bin/safe_mysqld`

however when we check the list of processes, safe_mysqld isnt there. what am
i doing wrong? btw, we've tried taking out the period (.) and running exec()
instead
