Windows is \r\n; unix/linux \n; MAC \r.  So the \n gets Windows and Unix/linux/ 
 If it's MAC or can be. then replace all

\r with \n first.

e.g., $str= preg_replace("%(\r\n|\r|\n)%", "\n", $str);
