The latter is a security hole, of course. So, mysqlfront, as nice as it might be, is not comparable to phpmyadmin. (Note: I'm not saying it's bad - you just cannot compare them.) I downloaded it and it was fine for me. Installation only requires you to unzip the files into some folder and run the Executable. Very easy and quick. I like it, so far.
