The function should always be available, it's part of the core, even missing sendmail binary does not give this error. I think it's in /usr/sbin, which is probably not in your path. So you either need to add /usr/sbin to your path, or set 'sendmail_path' in your php.ini file, then restart your webserver. -- John C.
