Re: [Pingus-Devel] Apple has Pingus!

2008-07-18 Thread Josh Dye
The PPC build was done by the G4M forum, I am not making universal
builds; and I don't have access to a PPC mac any more. I can't
figure out the sound thing- SMC, ETR, STL Defendguin all work fine-
Every build of pingus on Mac has had bad sound.

A pop-up menu for resolution would be ideal, but I don't know if I
can do it, the current launcher was made kinda quickly with
applescript. It doesn't really matter who host the file, since
MediaFire hosting is free; I just like the fact that Media-Fire has
a downloader has a download counter.

Added link to download page.

Any idea why the old Pingus0.7-PPC thing is so huge (i.e. 60MB vs
14MB)? Non striped debuggig symbols?

Some comments I got from a guy on IRC:
- instead of letting the user enter resolutions as command line
parameters, give a user a drop-down list of resolutions to choose from
- don't default to fullscreen _and_ 1024x768, apparently no macs (or
mac screens) actually come with such native resolution
- just don't default to fullscreen at all
- it would be nice to have checkbox for the fullscreen option
- sound is choppy (on a machine with 4GB of ram and four 2.66GHz xeons)

Regarding the apple.com description: we currently don't have a working
multiplayer. Also, you should tell the apple.com visitors to contact
you directly about problems with the build, or if they want to use the
Pingus bugtracker (http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?group=pingus) then
they should explicitly put something like [MacOS] in the bug
subject/title. (Does the rest of the mailing list agree with this?)

Do you want me to host this and future files on my website? I already
have it at:
http://plouj.com/pingus/macos/Pingus-0.7.2-INTEL-2008-07-12-17:26.dmg

Thanks for your work.
