[pinhole-discussion] joycam

2001-04-03 Thread mjkoskin
hi all

I converted my Joycam to a pinhole camera. Just removed the mirror and
drilled a small hole in the top of the camera, where I placed a small
sheet from coke can with a pinhole approx. 0.3mm of diameter. The f-stop
is ~f200. The mirror was removed easily and I hope I can reinstall it,
if I ever want to use original Joycam. I glued with epoxy glue a 1/4
nut under the Joycam lens. Shutter is just a piece of electrical black
tape. The trick was opening the pinhole for exposure, as in bright
daylight the exposure was 1/4 sec. I found out that first removing the
tape and in the same time placing my finger over the hole and doing the
exposure just with my finger and then doing the opposite, gave the best
results. Just removing the tape causes so much vibrations and as the
time is so short, the pictures are all very unsharp.

Works well, pity that the Polaroid 500 film is so expensive (2-pack abt.
$16 here in Finland).

Here's a picture taken this evening with pinhole-Joycam:
