[pinhole-discussion] new list moderator, and other stuff.
I just wanted to thank Guy. I have been going through some strange times, and just don't have the time that I need to put in to the list. With all 3 of us I'm sure the list will run better then ever. Any way we are almost to 500 members. Thats a great milestone. I am going to be in Santa Fe the week of October 7th-13th taking a wookshop on color management. If any one lives or is planning to be in Santa Fe lets try to get togeather. Also I have been trying to get in touch with Kurt Mottweiler, and all I have is his old e-mail address, pinh...@laplaza.org. If soom one has his new address could they pass it along. Thanks James

Thanks Guillermo, You've got the pronounciation correct: Guy as in Gih, but I've become accustomed to all sorts of pronounciations. Then, I won't talk about the range of pronounciations I've heard for my family name... -:)) Guillermo wrote: > > best of luck > > He'll surely need it to deal with us bunch of trouble people! You bet! Any group of people looking at the world through tiny sub-millimetric pinhole can only be a source of trouble. But I'll have to keep a special eye on you and your complex formulae to work out reciprocity correction. Anybody with such knowledge can really stir up things...-:)) Cheers, Guy > > > BTW, there are some names I am sure not everybody nows how to pronounce > them, like mine for instance: > > Guillermo is pronounced Gih - jer - moh > > and I am pretty sure Guy's name is pronounced: Gih or Gi as in Gilligan, > correct me if I am wrong, Guy. > > Guillermo > > ___ > Pinhole-Discussion mailing list > Pinhole-Discussion@p at ??? > unsubscribe or change your account at > http://www.???/discussion/

BTW, there are some names I am sure not everybody nows how to pronounce them, like mine for instance: Guillermo is pronounced Gih - jer - moh and I am pretty sure Guy's name is pronounced: Gih or Gi as in Gilligan, correct me if I am wrong, Guy. Gregg Kemp wrote: > Hi all, > > I'm very pleased to announce that Guy Glorieux will be joining James Kellar > and myself as a list moderator. > Thanks Gregg for inviting me, Thanks everyone for being members of this list, When I first experimented with pinhole photography, I had hoped to discover a new way of seeing the world and this materialized beyond my expectations. What I did'nt anticipate is that this would come together with a whole community of people around the world, a community of friendship and enthousiasm for exploring new avenues in creativity. This is each and everyone of you. Of course, one of the primary reason I accepted Gregg's invitation is that you are all doing the work already. Perhaps it comes with pinhole to be always on the lookout for new ideas, to be prepared to share one's knowledge around, to be respectfull of one another. But I can't remember one dead time in this group since having joined in some years ago now, nor can I remember any fault in good manners. This can't be a better environment for a moderator. But the real reason I accepted is that I have picked up so much from this group over time and, if I can somehow give something back from being in this function, this will be my way of saying thanks to all of you. So, as Tom Lindsay would say, "Let's all keep on pinholin' "...-:)) Guy

Guy has provided a strong presence on the list for some time and is known by many of you in both on- and off-list discussion. I met Guy in Toronto a few years ago at a pinhole exhibition and symposium held there. We only talked briefly at that time, but I was impressed with his jovial personality. We kept in touch over time, but I never really got to know Guy until early this year when he joined the coordinating team for the first "worldwide pinhole photography day". Guy was one of the main leaders in organizing and following through with "pinhole day" held this past spring. I don't think many people would believe how many hours Guy put into planning that event - much of it in the middle of the night for weeks on end! Guy has become a good friend and I'm glad he has let me twist his arm into helping moderate the list. Guy lives in Montreal, speaks French, English, and pinhole. If you haven't seen the on-line exhibit of his pinhole photos at http://www.???/exhibits/Glorieux/, you should be ashamed of yourself; his pinhole images are remarkable.
