Summary: Installing the means to start a server for an entertainment
game automatically puts it into the /etc/rc* startup sequence, thereby
potentially opening a large security hole. This happens with little

Affects: tremulous-server, wesnoth-server to mention two. I suspect

I am using Ubuntu 7.10, Tremulous version 1.1.0-4, but with the TJW
  patch (http://www.trem-servers.com/index.php?page=downloads)

Recently, after playing Tremulous in full screen mode, at random
times, Tremulous freezes up, and the keyboard/mouse don't work. The
sound starts playing like a broken record(repeating sound), and
restarting X (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) doesn't work. The only option is to
do a hard reboot (reboot button on the physical computer), or by
sending a sysreq through holding Alt+SysRq and typing REISUB. No
errors are reported in the sys log. Attached are the outputs of lscpi
-v and my xorg.conf. I have been unable to check trem status from
terminal as my system is unusable after the freeze. Please feel free
  to request more information :)

Either I am mistaken in goplay's design, or isn't it supposed to be a
GUI frontend for installing debian games, widgets, and applications?
When I try to run it, I cannot install from that program at all,
selecting the program works to a degree, when I select it, it appears
in the right hand pane, but then it immediately changes focus to
something that's not visible in the program from the program select
  screen.

To get it to highlight anything for longer than a millisecond I have
to click and hold on the item in question in the left hand pane with
all the programs listed, afterwards it leaves the dotted line box as
if focus changed off the page or area to something else.

I know I'm playing with fire and tinder here, what with it being an
Alpha plus trying to muddle about with debian packages, but it's still
(what I presume it to be) a glitch in the program that it cannot
  install from the GUI front-end.

Please feel free
  to request more information :)

there are serious memory leaks in pingus from Ubuntu Gutsy :(
I've played about 10 levels of tutorial island and noticed, that my computer
started to operate very slowly. Look at the output of free command when I just
started pingus and after ~10 levels:
