It was recently discussed on the debian-gis list: https://lists.debian.org/debian-gis/2015/11/msg5.html We should probably try to patch this ourselves and push that upstream. I've combined them into a single patch and forwarded it upstream, the patch will be included in the next upload. Bug#749859: netcdf: Please increase size of netcdf models for exodus
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Control: tags -1 wishlist Hi Alastair, This issue has also been reported upstream, I've set the forwarded URL accordingly. There are no comments in the upstream issue though, that's not very promising. This MOAB-dev post suggests that these limits are no longer applied in netcdf >= 4.3.0, so we not need to change this now that we have 4.4.0 in Debian: http://lists.mcs.anl.gov/pipermail/moab-dev/2013/005870.html Can you verify that the change is still required for netcdf >= 4.3? Fedora, Gentoo & FreeBSD also don't patch their netcdf package (some have discussed this change for exodus2), so that doesn't seem common at least.
