Hi Antal,

Thanks for reporting this issue. Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce
it with gdal 1.11.3+dfsg-2 on unstable.

On my two sid systems all binaries run successfully (with the --help
option), both with and without libgdal1-1.11.3-grass installed.

The issues seems limited to your environment, you may not have upgraded
all packages involved in the recent transition to GDAL 1.11.3.

Can you verify that you're using the Debian packages from unstable and
not have any local customizations or 3rd party repositories causing this
issue?

Kind Regards,

Bas

Bug#802960: gdal-bin executables malloc.c..

2015-10-25 Thread Kosza Antal
Package: gdal-bin
Version: 1.11.3+dfsg-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Running the binaries
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

When i wanted to run the binaries from the gdal-bin package, I've got
the same error for each binary:

gdal_contour: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr)
(((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct
malloc_chunk, fd && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) >=
(unsigned long)__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2
*(sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 *(sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)->size &
0x1) && ((unsigned long) old_end & pagemask) == 0)' failed.

The list of affected binaries:

gdal_contour: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdal_grid: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdal_rasterize: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdal_translate: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdaladdo: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalbuildvrt: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdaldem: OK
gdalenhance: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalinfo: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdallocationinfo: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalmanage: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalserver: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalsrsinfo: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdaltindex: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdaltransform: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
gdalwarp: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
nearblack: malloc.c:2372: sysmalloc: Assertion...
ogr2ogr: OK
ogrinfo: OK
ogrlineref: OK
ogrtindex: OK
testepsg: OK

If i uninstall the libgdal-grass driver, the results is:

*** Error in `gdal_translate': malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00d7d2c0
***

I have rebuilt gdal on my machine, but nothing changed, i've got the same
error, then from upstream with minimal drivers, and everything was ok.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
:)

The cause was an old mrsid and ecw driver in gdalplugins from the
1.11.2 version. Thanks to valgrind. Again thank you for your
promptitude.
