Package: libhdfeos5-ruby1.8
Severity: normal
Usertags: ruby18-removal, update-ruby-policy

Hi Debian GIS Project,

As you may know, during the Wheezy release cycle, the pkg-ruby-extras
team¹ has worked to update the Ruby libraries/modules/gems packages to
follow a new policy, much easier for the maintainers (as we no longer
require a separate package for each interpreter version), to the
archive (as it strongly reduces code duplication), and much more
sensical to the users (as they no longer require to fiddle with which
among many almost-identical binary packages to install).

While we achieved a quite good success level during the Wheezy cycle²,
we decided to act only on the packages maintained by the group — There
are many Ruby library packages maintained by kind people (like
yourself!) which have not yet adopted this new style. According to our
records, you are currently maintaining the package:

  libhdfeos5-ruby1.8

I am sending this report as part of a mass-bug-filing.³ Some useful
information you might find useful:

• Ruby team release goals for Jessie⁵

• Part of the new policy involves running the package's tests. Here is

gpx2shp REMOVED from testing

2014-01-27 Thread Debian testing watch
FYI: The status of the gpx2shp source package
in Debian's testing distribution has changed.

  Previous version: 0.70-1
  Current version: (not in testing)
  Hint: http://release.debian.org/britney/hints/auto-removals
Bug #733381: gpx2shp: FTBFS: geod_set.c:32:2: error: too few arguments to
function 'pj_ell_set'

The script that generates this mail tries to extract removal
reasons from comments in the britney hint files. Those comments
were not originally meant to be machine readable, so if the
reason for removing your package seems to be nonsense, it is
probably the reporting script that got confused. Please check the
actual hints file before you complain about meaningless removals.

2014-01-27 Thread HIRAOKA, Toshihiro
Hello Andreas,

I found the reason of the problem and I found a solution.
I will release new version in the next week.

Thanks for your infomation.

Andreas Tille andr...@an3as.euさん:
 Hi Toshihiro,

On Tue, 07 Jan 2014, you wrote:

OK, I will make the sid environment and check the bug.

The package was today removed from Debian testing. Did you had any
 success?

Petter, I had a short look and realised the Debian packaging remained
in
SVN (which means is not yet migrated to Git) and is a bit aged
compared
to the Debian GIS team policy[1]. If we get any response about this
upstream problem I might consider upgrading the packaging.

 Kind regards

  Andreas.

2014-01-27 Thread Debian FTP Masters
binary:libepsilon1 is NEW.

Your package contains new components which requires manual editing of
the override file. It is ok otherwise, so please be patient. New
packages are usually added to the override file about once a week.
