Bug#662856: pitivi: cannot import mp3 file

2012-03-06 Thread Antonio Terceiro
Package: pitivi
Version: 0.15.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I currently cannot add a mp3 as a clip in PiTiVi. When I select a mp3
file, it appears in the "clips" section, but when I drag it to the
timeline, it does not display the audio wave form. Trying to render a
project with a mp3 file in the timeline does not proceeed, and the
progress window says "Estimating ..." forever.

I've tried two different mp3 files with the same results. When I
converted the one I actually wanted to use to ogg and them imported the
ogg file, it worked ok.

This is not caused by lack of proper a decoder: I do have
gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 installed, and I am able to play mp3 files
without problem. I can even preview mp3 files while in the "Import
files" window in PiTiVi itself.

Here's a terminal log I got with `LANG=C pitivi > /tmp/pitivi.log 2>&1`.
I opened PiTiVi with a fresh empty project, imported a mp3 file, dragged
it into the timeline, and clicked in "play" button of the preview area.
The audio did not actually play.

Hi,
does this also happen if you run pidgin with
ORC_CODE=backup or ORC_CODE=debug ?

Could you also check if this still happens with orc 0.4.15?

Might work better if you ask the bug submitter, rather than the pidgin
maintainer.

Let's actually do that then... :)

Regards,

Adam

It still happens.
