Bug#446299: May be the same bug as #443905

2007-10-14 Thread Giangiacomo Mariotti
I attached the strace of eclipse (I haven't looked at this too much,so
maybe I'm saying something stupid,but that
stat(/usr/lib/eclipse//usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar, 0x7fff2eb39d40)
= -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) seems strange).

P.S. I've sent this same message yesterday,but still it didn't appear on the
site,so I'm sending it again,maybe there has been some problem.

Hello,

As said on another place, I cant reproduce this. Unfortunately this
seems to be a pretty common bug as many people seem to have it.

Can you please try strace on eclipse and look for failed system calls?

Cheers,
Michael

2007-10-14 Thread Michael

Hello Michael,

 Agreed. libstdc++5 should be mentioned.

 What doesnt work? Nothing works are all? Or just some specific feature
 like the browser plugin? I wanna understand that.

 If its only a particulr feature I would probably add libstdc++5 as a
 suggests only.

Without libstdc++5 I got an error when executing java:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ java -version
Ошибка при загрузке: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Ошибка при загрузке in Russian means Error when loading.

After installing libstdc++5 package from repository all seems to be OK:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ java -version
java version 1.5.0
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build pxp32devifx-20070806
(SR5a))
IBM J9 VM (build 2.3, J2RE 1.5.0 IBM J9 2.3 Linux ppc-32 j9vmxp3223-20070426
(JIT enabled)
J9VM - 20070420_12448_bHdSMR
JIT  - 20070419_1806_r8
GC   - 200704_19)
JCL  - 20070725

Also I noticed that java ignores LANGUAGE or LC_MESSAGES env options (which is
en_US.UTF-8 on my system) and uses only LANG option (which is ru_RU.UTF-8).

Michael

Bug#446656: ITP: libjbosscache1-java -- cache frequently accessed Java objects

2007-10-14 Thread Torsten Werner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Torsten Werner [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libjbosscache1-java
  Version : 1.4.1.SP5
  Upstream Author : Red Hat, Inc.
* URL : http://labs.jboss.com/jbosscache/
* License : LGPL
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : cache frequently accessed Java objects
 JBoss Cache is a product designed to cache frequently accessed Java
 objects in order to dramatically improve the performance of e-business
 applications. By eliminating unnecessary database access, JBoss Cache
 decreases network traffic and increases the scalability of
 applications.
 .
 But JBoss Cache is much more than a simple cache. JBoss Cache provides
 fully transactional features as well as a highly configurable set of
 options to deal with concurrent data access in the most efficient
 manner possible for your application. In addition, it is a clustered
 cache that replicates contents to other cache instances running on
 separate JVMs, servers or even entire networks, making JBoss Cache a
 highly efficient library used by application server developers to
 implement clustering features.
 .
 JBoss Cache provides two caching APIs to suit your needs. The JBoss
 Cache API offers a traditional, tree-structured, node-based cache and
 the Pojo Cache API, which builds on the JBoss Cache API, provides the
 ability to perform object-based, fine-grained replication of Java
 objects, resulting in maximum performance benefits.

 serve the cached content so people can still surf the site almost

Bug#446659: ITP: libswarmcache-java -- simple, yet powerful distributed caching mechanism for Java

2007-10-14 Thread Torsten Werner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Torsten Werner [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libswarmcache-java
  Version : 1.0~rc2
  Upstream Author : John Watkinson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://swarmcache.sourceforge.net/
* License : LGPL
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : simple, yet powerful distributed caching mechanism for Java
 SwarmCache is a simple but effective distributed cache. It uses IP
 multicast to efficiently communicate with any number of hosts on a LAN.
 It is specifically designed for use by clustered, database-driven web
 applications. Such applications typically have many more read
 operations than write operations, which allows SwarmCache to deliver
 the greatest performance gains. SwarmCache uses JavaGroups internally
 to manage the membership and communications of its distributed cache.

Bug#381128: argouml: That works, but then menu launcher doesn't

2007-10-14 Thread Jude Anthony
Package: argouml
Version: 0.19.6-2.1
Followup-For: Bug #381128

I have several versions of the JVM installed; I started with gij, and
that wasn't found, either. I used update-alternatives to set that to
the Sun JVM, and that works if I set the environment variable JAVA_HOME
by hand.

However, the menu launcher silently fails in either case. From the
command line, I get the set JAVA_HOME error mentioned above.

For reference:
$ sudo update-alternatives --list java
/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-sun/bin/java
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/bin/java
/etc/alternatives/kaffe-system/bin/java
/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/bin/java
/usr/bin/gij-4.1
/usr/bin/java-sablevm
/usr/bin/gij-4.2
$ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre argouml

Although the ArgoUML screen then appears, and seems to function
normally.
