"Why," said he, "we are waiting for one or two hours outside this house on a winter evening. You must forgive me; it is all my vanity. It is only to show you that I am right. Can you, with the assistance of this cigar, wait until both Sir Walter Cholmondeliegh and the mystic Wimpole have left this house?" "Certainly," I said. "But I do not know which is likely to leave first. Have you any notion?" "No," he said. "Sir Walter may leave first in a glow of rage. Or again, Mr Wimpole may leave first, feeling that his last epigram is a thing to be flung behind him like a firework. And Sir Walter may remain some time to analyse Mr Wimpole's character. But they will both have to leave within reasonable time, for they will both have to get dressed and come back to dinner here tonight." As he spoke the shrill double whistle from the porch of the great house drew a dark cab to the dark portal. And then a thing happened that we really had not expected. Mr Wimpole and Sir Walter Cholmondeliegh came out at the same moment. Bug#563946: maven2: dependency downloads fail
Package: maven2 Version: 2.2.1-2 Severity: important Maven fails to download dependencies with errors like: Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-site-plugin/2.0/maven-site-plugin-2.0.pom [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-site-plugin:pom:2.0' from repository central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2): Error transferring file: Network is unreachable Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-site-plugin/2.0/maven-site-plugin-2.0.pom [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-site-plugin:pom:2.0' from repository central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2): Error transferring file: Network is unreachable This happens systems with a functioning network connection where the failed urls can be successfully downloaded through another method (eg: wget, iceweasel). Some investigation revealed that for some reason these downloads are only trying IPv6 on hosts which only have IPv4 configured. This makes the "Network is unreachable" sort of make sense. This can be worked around by running maven with the argument -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true. Though the work around would suggest this is a jre issue I have not had such issues with other java programs. Also, though this bug report is against squeeze, this also occurs in sid but does not occur in lenny. As a help, the system information below includes multiple jres as I frequently need to test on multiple versions. Bug#563939: tomcat6-admin: Missing instructions on setting up admin user for manager webapp
Package: tomcat6-admin Version: 6.0.20-9 Severity: minor Hi. Once installed, http://localhost:8080/*manager/ ask for basic auth. However, there's nothing in /usr/share/doc/tomcat6-admin to instruct the Debian user what to do to get access. It seems to me that no user is configured by default and one has to to it by editing /etc/tomcat6/tomcat-users.xml, but it's not really obvious. Thanks in advance to add a README.Debian to mention this. Bug#563937: Provide minimal info in /usr/share/doc/tomcat6/ for users
Package: tomcat6 Version: 6.0.20-9 Severity: wishlist Hi. I'd suggest to add some README.Debian file in /usr/share/doc/tomcat6/ in order to instruct, at least, the user, that more information may be found in /usr/share/doc/tomcat6-common/ and that the server should be accessible at http://localhost:8080/ once installed.
