[Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#722488: src:pegjs: should ship separate binary package libjs-peg
Package: src:pegjs Severity: normal Homepage advertises PEG.js being usable from a web-browser, which the build-dependency on uglifyjs also hints about. Packaging only provides creates a package for use with Nodejs, however. Minified code should be shipped in separate libjs-peg package that recommends javascript-common and (at most) suggests node-peg, for use in browsers. - Jonas ___ Pkg-javascript-devel mailing list Pkg-javascript-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-javascript-devel
[Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#722490: Bug#722490: src:pegjs: please relax debhelper compatibility level to ease backporting
On 09/11/2013 11:52 AM, Jonas Smedegaard wrote: pegjs source package seems to do no extraordinary packaging tricks, yet uses debhelper compatibility level 9, making backporting to stable or oldstable harder, as it then involves also backporting debhelper (or relying on other backporting of that). debhelper 9 is already in debian stable (wheezy). It is also in squeeze-backports (which we can treat as part of oldstable), and is trivially easy to install for anyone building a backport. At this point, debhelper 9 seems like a reasonable level to aim for. I don't think changing the packaging to accomodate people who develop on pure squeeze is a good idea. Your message dated Wed, 11 Sep 2013 19:50:34 +0200 with message-id 20130911175034.16674.2...@bastian.jones.dk and subject line Re: [Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#722490: src:pegjs: please relax debhelper compatibility level to ease backporting has caused the Debian Bug report #722490, regarding src:pegjs: please relax debhelper compatibility level to ease backporting to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 722490: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=722490 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: src:pegjs Severity: minor Hi, pegjs source package seems to do no extraordinary packaging tricks, yet uses debhelper compatibility level 9, making backporting to stable or oldstable harder, as it then involves also backporting debhelper (or relying on other backporting of that). Please consider relaxing to use compatibility level 8 and corresponding relaxed build-dependency versioning (or then simply drop the versioning, as it is then - despite debhelper maintainer suggestions - unneeded). - Jonas ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Quoting Daniel Kahn Gillmor (2013-09-11 19:24:33) On 09/11/2013 11:52 AM, Jonas Smedegaard wrote: pegjs source package seems to do no extraordinary packaging tricks, yet uses debhelper compatibility level 9, making backporting to stable or oldstable harder, as it then involves also backporting debhelper (or relying on other backporting of that). debhelper 9 is already in debian stable (wheezy). Don't know what I was thinking. (I even made exact same brain fart before, where Gregor - I believe it was - enlightened me about the status of debhelper versions) Sorry for the noise - closing as a non-bug. - Jonas -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ [x] quote me freely [ ] ask before reusing [ ] keep private signature.asc Description: signature ---End Message--- ___ Pkg-javascript-devel mailing list Pkg-javascript-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-javascript-devel

This does not generate a users list, even if they're found Indeed, this is due to libjs-jquery-ui (downgrading it back to the Wheezy version, 1.8.ooops.21+dfsg-2, fixes the issue). As a temporary workaround, we could ship back the embedded version provided in owncloud source (or better figure out what is going wrong here). Being a bit clueless about how to even debug this situation, I’m hereby bugging the libjs-jquery-ui maintainers for help. owncloud works fine with its own libjs-jquery-ui copy (version 1.10.0) and with the libjs-jquery-ui package from wheezy (version 1.8.ooops.21+dfsg-2), but not with the version from sid (1.10.1+dfsg-1). Do you have any idea about what is going wrong here? Do you have any advice for debugging or fixing the situation? The embedded working owncloud copy is available online if needed: https://github.com/owncloud/core/raw/stable5/core/js/jquery-ui-1.10.0.custom.js Thanks in advance for your help.
