[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#468241: Bug#466316: encfs: Some programs have trouble with file operations
tags 468241 moreinfo thanks Given that the uncfs bug has been closed: http://bugs.debian.org/466316 Can the associated digikam bug report be closed? http://bugs.debian.org/468241 Mark On Thu, 28 Feb 2008, Eduard Bloch wrote: clone 466316 -1 reassign -1 openoffice.org retitle -1 Should allow to store without locking clone 466316 -2 reassign -2 digicam thanks #include hallo.h * Dietz Pröpper [Sun, Feb 17 2008, 11:16:05PM]: Package: encfs Version: 1.4.1.1-2 Severity: important As of encfs 1.4.1.1, some programs seem to have trouble with file operations on encrypted mounts. The ones I discovered are: - openoffice 2.4: a general error is reported on saving files. - digicam 0.9.3: can not create it's image database. Downgrading encfs to 1.3.2 fixes the two problems. Thanks for the report. AFAICS the only difference in the IO operations is a non-successfull responste to fcntl(..., F_SETLK, ...). However this should not be reported to user as IO error while saving file. At least the latest OpenOffice tells the reason, the previous version really reported such general IO error nonsense. However, the proper solution should allow the user to ignore the limitations of the filesystem. That said, I am checking the ulockmgr issues in encfs now; expect a fix RSN. I cannot see any work done on this part: should not be reported to user as IO error while saving file. At least the latest OpenOffice tells the reason, the previous version really reported such general IO error nonsense. However, the proper solution should allow the user to ignore the limitations of the filesystem. So, why does it need to lock the file when storing a new one? But if you like closing it as-is, feel free to do that. I don't care much. Regards, Eduard. -- * Tolimar haut immer zufaellig auf die Tastatur, und laesst sich ueberraschen, was dabei rauskommt. However, it is no longer possible to enter comments for many pictures at once using just the keyboard. There appears to be no shortcut for the next image button, and even when it is clicked, the Comments area loses focus. In previous versions of Digikam, I think it was Alt-F that would go forward to the next image for entering comments. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-2-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages digikam depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5 core libraries and binaries for al ii libacl12.2.41-1 Access control list shared library ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libattr1 2.4.32-1 Extended attribute shared library ii libaudio2 1.8-2 The Network Audio System (NAS).
